The World Eater is a longtime enemy of the Fantastic Four and Avengers. He is an important character in the Silver Surfer’s origin story. Galactus isn’t your traditional villain. He doesn’t kill because he wants to or because he has a tragic backstory or revenge. He eats planets because they’re part of his diet. He was a human in the previous universe named Galan who survived the big crunch and became Galactus. He feeds off the energy of the planets. Galactus has power cosmic that he imbues in his Heralds. He first appeared in Fantastic Four, Issue 48, in December 1965.
