The day was 24th January of the year 2010, when the Libyan government banned YouTube. Human Rights Watch denounced the prohibition. The reason was very clear, as YouTube displayed some of the inappropriate pictures of Muammar Gaddafi’s family attending parties.
- Secondly, YouTube was banned for one more reason, as it also displayed some images of protests in Benghazi, in 1996 which was done by the relatives of captives slain in Abu Salim prison.
- At the time of the Civil War in Libya which took place in 2011 in the month of November, YouTube was permitted to operate in Libya once more.
- But then too the localized version of the YouTube was not released until the time of early 2015.
