Gandhinagar airport was set up in 1937 and in 2000, this airport was upgraded as an International airport. It is the main airport for the twin cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar of Gujarat, India. The airport is located in Hansol. Later it is named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the First Deputy Prime Minister of India. According to the business of Airport, it is the 7th busiest airport in India. It was awarded as “Most improved airport” in the Asia-Pacific region by the Airports Council International (ACI, which is a global trade representative of the world airport authorities. Established in 1991) for 2017.

In the year 1911, India’s first commercial civil aviation flight, which was carrying mail, took off across the Yamuna River from Allahabad to Naini.
