In 2022, South Africa made 806 million liters of wine. They harvested 1,375,937 tons of grapes that year. They are using about 80.9%, for wine. The wine industry there gets support from different groups. The Paarl wine area is above Stellenbosch, with Wellington to the northeast, and mountains around it. South Africa’s wine business got better in the late 1980s and 1990s when Apartheid ended and they started selling wine worldwide. Now, nearly half of South Africa’s wine is sold overseas, mainly in Europe.

International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) reported that in 2022, world wine production (excluding juice and musts) was estimated to be around 260 million hectoliters, showing a slight increase from the previous year. The top wine-producing countries remain Italy, France, and Spain.
