Consumer Protection Act 1986

The Consumer Protection Act of 1986 refers to the act that was enacted by the Parliament of India to safeguard the interests of consumers and buyers in India. It was removed by the Consumer Protection Act of 2019. It was created for the redressal of consumer complaints and also matters that were connected with it. Legislative Assembly passed the Act on October 1986 and came into force on 24 December 1986.

Objectives of Consumer Protection Act

Objectives of Consumer Protection Act: The main objective of the Consumer Protection Act was the provision of certain mechanisms for prompt action on complaints, protection, and welfare of the customers and consumers. The Consumer Protection Act ( CPA) was enacted in 1986, for the protection of the rights and interests of consumers against any fraud or unfairness, and the Consumer Protection Act of 2019 came to replace it.
