Cyclone Michaung
A moderate tropical storm named Michaung developed in the Bay of Bengal in the North Indian Ocean cyclone season of 2023. On December 2, Michaung transformed from a low-pressure region in the Gulf of Thailand into a deep depression by crossing into the Bay of Bengal. After that, it became a cyclonic storm and was given the name Michaung. It was the season’s ninth depression and sixth officially recognized cyclonic storm. Over the next few days, the cyclone progressively traveled towards the eastern coast of India from the north-west.
Impacts :
- On December 5, 2023, Cyclone Michaung did indeed affect Andhra Pradesh; however, it has already subsided and turned into a depression.
- Caused 770 kilometers of highways to be damaged, 25 settlements to be submerged, and trees to be uprooted.
- Regretfully, during the storm and its aftermath, nine individuals died.
- There were multiple disruptions to the power supply and communication.
