Subhas Chandra Bose died on August 18, 1945, in a plane crash in Taipei, Taiwan (then Formosa). He was en route to Tokyo from Singapore, and the aircraft, a Japanese plane, reportedly crashed during takeoff. Bose sustained severe burns and injuries and succumbed to them in a military hospital in Taipei.
