Final Year

As I would be entering my final year soon, I might not be the most competent person to answer it at this point of time, but yeah can definitely share the pov of my seniors. Recession has been an issue to most of the youth passing out through college in current time, and so it did had an issue with the students here at BITS-Hyderabad too. Although the severity of it is less but the number of job offers and the average package had to suffer a bit due to it. But yet, the summer internships were better, with students getting up to 1L/month stipend. Our placement division is doing their best to give students with a basic training pre placements to make them feel confident enough during their interview process. One of the sem is reserved for either PS-2 (Practice School-2) or thesis, and it’s the students wish as when to sit for placements and which sem to go for PS-2. This concludes the end of the most beautiful part of our life that is the college life.

BITS Hyderabad Campus Experience

I will be completing my BE in ECE from BITS-Hyderabad in 2025. Although my fresher sem was hit hard by the pandemic, the overall college journey has been amazing up to date. There are more than enough opportunities here at BITS, the only thing is how you make the most out of it. So here’s an insight of my journey at BITS-Hyd.

About campus:

Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani – Hyderabad Campus, is one of the five constituent campuses of the BITS Pilani University located in Hyderabad, India. BITS opened its campus in Hyderabad upon invitation by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2008 with the first batch of campus graduating in 2012. It is a technical and research institute focusing on Engineering and Sciences. The state allocated an additional 75 acres (30 hectares) to the institute to facilitate its phase-II expansion plans, making it the largest physical campus of BITS Pilani.

First Year:

My fresher year at BITS was partly (sem 1) online and partly offline. Sem 1 was online, so we didn’t get enough opportunities to meet our seniors. We had the fresher’s party online, where some fun team games were organized by our seniors, which helped us interact with them. Apart from that, labs were held online, and lab teachers were very supportive in helping us grasp the concepts even online. The teachers were very supportive and taught even the most difficult subjects as easily as possible. Each student also received individualized support from their assigned mentors, which aided them in both their academic and extracurricular endeavors. As our sem 2 was offline (with pandemic restrictions ofc, we got the opportunity to see our beautiful, lush-green campus. We also got to meet more people during this time, as we had a double sharing room allotted for the freshers. We had a lot of fun, from walks with seniors at midnight to the least visited and rumored places of campus to our cultural fest and much more. If someone asks me the best part of my college life, it would definitely be my first year....

Second and Third Year:

From second year onwards, we had our core subjects related to our degree and hence everyone got kind of grouped with their degree batchmates and so I did. BITS also offer dual degree course for the UG students, hence those students had their MSc subjects in their second year. Second and third year are the second most important years of your college life. You get to meet many people of your discipline, many new professors, some students get into the flow of first year and don’t study enough and hence have to cope with their grades during endsem exams. Some students around me got into the bad activities too, we I ask you to be cautious with your health and with your studies and it’s not really that if you say no to your friends, they might stop talking to you and blah blah… If they do so, you know that they are not the real friends, but instead sneks, who only call you whenever they need some help or are in trouble, but wouldn’t responded vice versa....
