First Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir
Sheikh Abdullah was the first Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Sheikh Abdullah was born in Soura, Kashmir, on December 5, 1905. He had a strong commitment to promoting the welfare and rights of the local population. The accession of Jammu and Kashmir in India in 1947 was a turning point in the history of state. The accession of Jammu and Kashmir was made possible by the efforts of Sheikh Abdullah.
