History of China Day
On October 1, 1949 the founding ceremony in New China of the State Council was held in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. From that day, the government officially announced October 1st as the National Day of China.
- In 1954, National Day marked its 5th anniversary celebration, when large celebrations occurred along with the parades conducted by the military of China.
- In 1960, some reforms were conducted by the government of China which states that after every five years a small celebration will be performed on this day and on every 10th year celebration, military parades will be taking place along with big celebrations.
From then many governments came, and placed their own rules and reforms on the celebrations of China Day. In 1999, the government declared a three day holiday on China Day, but in the year 2000 the concept of Golden Week with 7 days of official holiday came into existence.
China Day
The celebration of China Day started on the 1st of October from the year 1949. The day is officially known as the Republic Day in China. The day is celebrated as the national holiday in China. People celebrate this day with full enthusiasm and pride.
The celebration of China Day continues for up to 6 days. That particular week is referred to as the Golden Week. There are 7 days off, declared officially by the government of China. The celebration which will occur on 1st October 2024 will be marked as the 75th anniversary of China Day.
