TRP is calculated by two methods which are as follows:
- Frequency Monitoring Method: In the Frequency Monitoring Method, a device is attached to the television sets of the audience. These audiences are surveyed in the form of sampling. This device records the data about the channel or tv show that is mostly watched. In the end, this data is analyzed and the TRP is calculated.
- Picture Matching Method: In this method, a people meter is used which records a small portion of the picture being viewed on the TV. This data is collected from multiple households in the form of pictures. Later, it is analyzed to calculate TRP.
