How to Identify a Leap Year?
Leap year: Each extra quarter day which is not included in the common year is added to form a full one day after the period of four years. This extra day which is added to leap year is called leap day. The leap year repeats after four years each.
To identify the given year is a leap year or its not, we can calculate it by dividing the year by 4. if year is divisible without leaving any remainder, then the given year is termed as leap year. If it is not divisible and leaves some remainder, then the given year is not considered as a leap year.
Example: The year 2024 is divisible by 4 leaving no remainder, Hence, it is a leap year.
The year 2019 is not divisible by 4. Hence, the year 2019 is not a leap year.
How Many Days in a Year?
How many days are there in a calendar year as a whole? People often ask this question. The answer seems simple: The number of Days in a Year is 365(days) But the truth is a little more complicated. Most years have 365 days, but a few have 366 days. The years that have a total of 366 days are called Leap Years. The event takes place every four years. In a Leap Year, an extra day is added to the calendar to stay in sync with the earth’s spin around the sun.
Even though we add an extra day to the calendar every four years, it is well-known that it is still not ideally in sync with the solar year. By the end of this post, readers will have a deeper understanding of what a year is and how long it is in terms of days.
