Hubali Railway Station – World’s Longest Railway Platform
Hubali Railway Station has the longest railway platform in the world with a length of 1.5km. This railway station is in Karnataka, India. Hubali Railway Station comes under South Western Railway zone. This platform was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The official name of this station is Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Hubballi Junction.
The total cost spent to make it the longest railway platform was approximately Rs 20 crore. This development work of Hubali Railway Station was initiated under of Hubballi yard remodelling project. It was much needed due to increasing demand for train services in the Hubballi-Dharwad region of Karnataka.
The Hubballi Junction Railway Station started operating in the late 19th century by the English East India Company. It is considered as one of the oldest railway stations in the state of Karnataka and is now managed by the Hubballi Division of the South Western Railway zone of Indian Railways.
