Implementing Azure Resource Manager
- Go to Azure Portal: Log in to the Azure portal.
- Go to Resource Manager: When the portal is up, access the Azure Resource Manager service. You can find the tool by typing “Resource Manager” in the search bar located on the top side of the Azure portal screen.
- Create or Import Resource Manager Templates: Resource Manager templates can also be created using the Azure Resource Manager Template language, powered by JSON. These templates guide the command on the preferred state of the Azure resources, underlining their properties, dependencies, and configurations. The template can also be imported from a repository or template gallery.
- Deploy Resources Using Templates: Deploy your Resource Manager templates to your Azure environment. You can deploy templates in several ways using Azure Portal, Azure CLI, Azure PowerShell, or Azure DevOps.
- Automate Deployment Processes: You can automate deployment processes using ARM with templates and scripting languages like Azure CLI or PowerShell to simplify and ensure the repeatability of the deployment process by developing deployment scripts to deploy and manage Azure resources programmatically.
- Manage Resources with RBAC: Azure Resource Manager provides Role-Based Access Control. You can manage access to your Azure resources based on predefined roles or custom-built roles, assign roles to users, groups, or applications, and choose what they are allowed or denied to do.
- Monitor & Manage Deployments: Once you have deployed resources as ARM templates, you can observe and manage them using the Azure portal or through Azure monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor.
- Update and Delete Resources: Azure governance allows users to easily analyze and manage deployments. Assets are easy to configure and delete in the Azure Environment. This allows users to update the configuration of the resources for the corresponding ARM templates and delete them. Similarly, resources can be deleted from the Azure portal or through scripts, depending on the Azure governance when not in use.
Understanding Azure Governance Tools
