Yes, I do feel that just like Johnsy, teenagers these days feel depressed most of the time. They are constantly trying to make the most out of their lives. Their lifestyle is full of constant pressures & battles. They are more focused on their professional growth & pay less attention to their personal health, especially their mental health.

Que 3. Behrman has a dream. What is it? Does it come true?

Answer-

Behrman is a sixty-year-old painter. His lifelong dream had always been to paint a masterpiece. Yes, his dream comes true when he gets to paint the last leaf on an ivy creeper. This painted last leaf looked just like a real one.

Que 4. What is Behrman’s masterpiece? What makes Sue say so?

Answer-

Johnsy was of the view that when the last leaf on the ivy creeper fell, that would be the day when she breathes her last. Hearing this from Sue, when the last leaf had fallen, Behrman secretly painted a leaf on the creeper.

Johnsy was unaware that the leaf she was looking at was a painting, she was motivated to see that the last leaf was still clinging to the creeper. This made her feel energetic & she had a willingness to live.

Thus, Sue says that the last leaf painted by Behrman turned out to be a masterpiece as it led to Johnsy being willing to fight her illness & live.

Answer:

Our life is full of constant troubles & pressures. To move ahead we need to face our demons. Sometimes such a dilemma makes us depressed & dejected. We lose interest in our surroundings. Negative thoughts, self-doubt & procrastination creeps in. In this state of mind, we should try to be positive & find a solution. Our loyal friends & our family can also be helpful in such a situation. I felt very low & dejected when I could not score well in Mathematics during Class 9th. I scored very low marks. But then I decided to work on my weak areas & practiced regularly. I managed to score above 90 in the final examinations. I would not have been able to do this, had my parents, teachers & friends not supported me & pushed me to do well. I am grateful that I didn’t give up & worked on myself.
