Pros of joining VIT AP

  • Placements are similar for all the VIT campuses, which means if a company wants to hire students from VIT they will surely interview all the campuses.
  • FFCS is, a fully flexible credit system which means you can select whatever courses you want ( but there are a lot of students so demand would be high).
  • Since VIT AP is 7 7-year-old 7-year-old campus, it still has a lot of potential as it is said to be a top emerging college, so you can represent VIT AP with any clubs and organizations.
  • Many hackathons and other events are hosted in VIT AP.

VIT – AP Admission Experience

After my first JEE mains attempt, I took my VITEEE exam in Pune, Maharashtra. I initially thought that I would not get any rank in VITEEE that could get me into any VIT college, but after a few days, VITEEE results were out. I got 75,609 as my VITEEE rank, and after a month we got an email regarding the counselling. Before the counselling rounds start, they ask you to fill the preferred department & specialization you want according to your priority, we can add as many departments as you want but prioritize the department you want the most.

For example: I wanted B Tech CSE core from VIT Vellore the most so I prioritized it to 1st, second I chose B Tech CSE core from VIT Chennai so I prioritized it to 2nd, then I prioritized CSE core in VIT Andhra Pradesh so I prioritized it to 3rd,

This was my priority list,

Priority Rank

Specialization (Branch)

Location of college

1

CSE core

Vellore, Tamil Nadu

2

CSE core

Chennai, Tamil Nadu

3

CSE core

Amaravati, AP

4

CSE AI/ ML

Chennai, Tamil Nadu

5

CSE core

Bhopal

After submitting your priority list, they will announce the rounds at their dates, starting from the top rankers, You will have your rounds respectively according to your ranks. I had my counselling in the 5th round, around 25 days after the submission of the priority list.
They will ask you to log in to the same portal in which you submitted your priority list, after logging in, you can view can view your allotted seat in the portal. I got CSE core, Andhra Pradesh (category 2). The whole counselling experience took 1 month to complete after which we were told to pay the advance before the room allotment session. For the room allotment, we were asked to prioritize again according to our ranks. Here is some more info regarding the type of rooms in VIT AP

There are two types of rooms in VIT AP:

  • Room type – Rooms with common bathrooms.
  • Apartment type – spacious rooms (4 bedded and 5 bedded) with private bathrooms for 3 rooms in the apartment.

They also provide you with the option to select AC and non ac rooms, as well as 3 types of mess in VIT AP,

  • Veg mess
  • Non Veg mess
  • Special mess: You can either choose non-veg or veg; the only additional thing in this mess is they provide juices and cereal in the breakfast and additional sweets, and soups in the supper.

I am currently in my second year, and I would say that VIT AP has many pros and some cons, I will try to mention some of them here:

Cons of joining VIT AP:

The temperature in summer sores go up to 45 degrees, during which you feel irritable and sweaty going out to classes. There are some rules like people cannot go outside the hostels past 9 PM and you can only go on outing in the weekends. Some faculty are very strict as if they only want to fail the students, so please talk to seniors before choosing your faculty....
