Qualification for Members of Lok Sabha
The following are the eligibility criteria for members of the Lok Sabha:
- Indian citizenship is an essential requirement for the candidate.
- The applicant must be 25 years of age or older.
- For candidacy in any Indian parliamentary constituency, a candidate must be registered to vote.
- No legislation passed by Parliament could exclude the candidate from office.
- The applicant must fulfill educational requirements (if any) mandated by law.
- Preferably, the applicant should be free of any criminal history. But even those with criminal records are eligible for candidacy for office if they haven’t been found guilty of any of the listed crimes.
