Russia and the United States have a significant and strategic foreign relationship. They share interests in nuclear safety, counterterrorism, nonproliferation, and space exploration. Tensions escalated significantly after the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The United States imposed sanctions on Russia in response to the invasion. Russia categorized the United States as an “unfriendly country” along with several others, including Ukraine, European Union members, and NATO members.

In Syria, conflicting interests have complicated the achievement of political solution, with Russia supporting the Assad regime and the U.S. backing defense forces. Under Putin, Russia has engaged in several conflicts, including against the neighboring countries.
Relations with the United States were getting worse by 2001, while relations with Europe got worse, especially since Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea from Ukraine. Russia-Asia relations are considered one of the important ones in Russian foreign policy. Russia – Asia relations improved over the last decade; this connectivity and cooperation will open up options for improving the future. The Russian Government even has a list named “Unfriendly Countries List” which contains the names of countries having bad relations with Russia. Even after having bad relations with many Countries, Russia still has strong and positive or neutral ties with many countries.
