Tech Investment in Large Language Models (LLMs)
Tencent hasn’t shared many specifics about its upcoming foundation model including whether it will be accessible to everyone. However, Li mentioned that all of Tencent’s in-house products will incorporate or be enhanced by this new model. It has established a substantial computing center this year and is equipped with the latest graphics processing units (GPUs). Although, Li didn’t specify the exact GPU models used.
The major tech company is headquartered in Shenzhen. It is one of the Chinese Tech companies that are heavily investing in using large language models (LLMs) for industrial purposes.
Companies like Baidu and Alibaba Group Holding are also making similar investments in this area. They are focusing on industrial applications because these areas face less regulatory attention and allow them to turn their AI innovations into commercial products more rapidly.
