Ways to Receive Payments
Direct Payments:
- The person paying you needs your Venmo username, phone number, or email address.
- They’ll open the Venmo app, search for you, enter the payment amount, add a note, and hit “Pay.”
- The money should arrive in your Venmo balance almost immediately.
Requests:
- Open the Venmo app and tap the “Pay or Request” button.
- Find the person you want to request money from.
- Enter the amount, add a note (like “For dinner last night”) and hit “Request”.
- The other person will receive a notification and can easily approve the payment.
Venmo QR Code:
- This is great for in-person payments.
- Tap “Scan” in the Venmo app and select “Show to Pay”.
- The other person scans the QR code with their Venmo app, enters the amount, and sends the payment.
Venmo for Business:
- If you have a business profile, you can accept payments from customers through Venmo. Customers can pay using QR codes or through a “Pay with Venmo” option at checkout on some websites.

- Venmo Balance: The money they send initially goes into your Venmo balance before you transfer it elsewhere.
