What is a hotkey in DynamoDB?
In Amazon DynamoDB, a hotkey is a partition key that is frequently accessed and has unusually high traffic when compared to other partition keys in the same database. To improve scalability and performance, DynamoDB distributes data across partitions using partition keys. Each partition key value defines which partition the item is stored in. When one or a few partition keys receive significantly more read or write requests than others, it might result in an improper distribution of workload across partitions.
What are Hotkeys?
Hotkeys are used in various software applications, operating systems, and web browsers to speed up workflows. They can be particularly useful for power users or professionals who need to perform repetitive tasks quickly, such as graphic designers, editors, and programmers. Each program can have its own set of hotkeys, and many programs allow users to customize these shortcuts to suit their needs better.
