What is a Transistor?
A transistor is a semiconductor device that is used for amplification or transition of electrical signals and power. It is the basic unit that all the other electronics are built on. Transistors are made from semiconductor material, particularly silicon, and often have three terminals to allow connection to other electronic circuits. A transistor has three terminals, namely the emitter, base, and collector.
By putting it in use at one pair of terminals, a current to another pair of terminals can be kept at floating. So, using the transistors for amplifying signals, or as actual electronic switches is possible.
