What is Larynx?
The larynx (or voice box), is an essential organ found in the neck area of animals, including humans. The larynx diagram shows its functions to protect the airway during swallowing, controls the flow of air to and from the lungs, and produces sound for vocalization and speech. The larynx is made up of many muscles, mucous membranes, and cartilage. It contains the vocal cords, which vibrate to produce sound as air flows through them. Furthermore, the larynx is involved in reflexive respiratory motions such as sneezing and coughing.
