The MIN() function returns the smallest value of the selected column
The MIN()
function returns the smallest value of the selected column.
The MAX()
function returns the largest value of the selected column.
MIN() Syntax
SELECT MIN(column_name)
FROM table_name
WHERE condition;
MAX() Syntax
SELECT MAX(column_name)
FROM table_name
WHERE condition;
Below is a selection from the "Products" table in the Northwind sample database:

The following SQL statement finds the price of the most expensive product:
SELECT MAX(Price) AS LargestPrice
FROM Products;

function to select the record with the smallest value of the Price
column.
